Listed on the Supplementary Historic Monument List since 1949, this roadside chapel was initially built in the 10th, 11th and 12th centuries. Built of rubble masonry and covered with slates, it has a beautiful chancel typical of early Romanesque architecture. This chancel is made up of a single semicircular apse extended by a very low span over the choir compared to the gable to which it backs onto. This is shaped as the bell tower wall.
Overall restoration work probably took place in the 17th century. The interior plasterwork still bears the date of 1639. In the south wall of the choir is a rectangular doorway, later converted into a window, through which passers-by and cart drivers would throw coins to protect them on their travels.
Le Chapelle de La Madeleine can only be visited from the outside. Guided tours are organised every year during the Heritage Days held in September.
